A proactive definition of “prevention”
Are we investing opioid settlement funds in preventing deaths? Or preventing addiction from occurring in the first place?
Sign proposed legislation that includes the following key recommendations:
Empower employers and employees to “opt out” of opioids through a personal directive – giving individuals greater control over their care and reducing the risk of addiction. This directive is shared with the healthcare team to formally decline opioid use, especially during surgical procedures where the risk is highest.
We call for investment in patient education and provider certification programs to promote “Opioid-Sparing Surgical for Opioid-Free Outcomes” options. These programs should be mandatory both before and after surgery, ensuring that patients and providers understand the risks of opioid addiction and are equipped with alternative pain management strategies.
Lack of access to surgical alternatives should never be a barrier to providing the best possible care to patients. We urge you to support regenerative medicine alternatives to avoid surgery whenever possible.

Overdose Deaths Fell in Nearly Every State—Except Nevada, Which Led the Nation with a 3.1% Increase
Provisional data from the CDC’s National Vital Statistics System shows that nearly every state posted year-over-year declines in overdose deaths, with some states achieving reductions of over 40%. Nationwide, drug overdose deaths dropped nearly 27% in 2024—marking dramatic progress across most of the country.
Nevada was one of only two states (alongside South Dakota) to see an INCREASE IN OVERDOSE DEATHS, leading the nation with a 3.1% rise. [Click image for full report]
We love to win big in Nevada—but this isn’t the kind of streak we should be known for.
